Solutions Overview
There are a number of sectors in the semiconductor and electronic system industries for which the safety of the devices they produce is of paramount importance. These sectors all produce equipment or products that, in the event of a failure, could cause human injury or death.
Today, Optima Design Automation is primarily targeting the automotive industry. However, the Optima Safety Platform is also applicable to a range of other industry sectors and we encourage interest from these sectors as well.
The automotive industry has two significant driving forces at odds with each other. On one hand, the vehicles they produce must be absolutely as safe as possible, which involves lengthy test and verification processes. On the other hand the sector is extremely competitive and time-to-market is a major factor for the companies involved. As such, technology that accelerates the safety verification process, while still maintaining the exacting requirements of the ISO 26262 standard, is extremely valuable to these companies.
Other applications for which safety is critical include aeronautical and defense, medical devices, nuclear power generation, industrial controls and equipment, mass transport, and others. These sectors have varying requirements depending on the use of the electronic components, but all employ rigorous safety standards.
